Formed in January 1998 by Layne and Mecca, Lucid Fly’s story is about constant evolution. Rotating through several other musicians, the band hit upon a winning combination, adding steady members Russell in 2003 and finally Hoag in 2004. Since then, Lucid Fly has been rocking the Orlando music scene, surfacing above others in a seemingly endless pool of local bands, defining a class of their own.
Imagine the power of riff-based bands such as Sevendust, coupled with provocative, sexy vocal tones such as Fiona Apple. Lucid Fly’s fresh sound, intricate songwriting, and intelligent guitar stylings have extreme appeal to a wide spectrum of fans by blending hard rock, alternative, and modern rock elements. Beyond instantly appealing hooks, their songs grow on listeners by catching them off guard with a unique voice, then pulling them in until they find themselves reciting the memorable lyrics. Passionate about their music, Lucid Fly engulfs audiences with roaring waves of intensity.
Attesting to the quality of this act, the band has received radio play on stations from Spokane, WA to Miami, FL, and has established major internet presence. Well over 2000 copies of Lucid Fly's demo have been distributed throughout the southeast at music conferences and performances, where the band has shared the stage with national acts including Seether, Darwin’s Waiting Room, and Indigenous. Their first EP entitled “Adapting to Gravity” was released in December 2004 to much anticipation…
Adapting To Gravity was recorded entirely in digiDesign ProTools on Power Mac G5’s running Mac O/S X by Adam Barber (Sevendust, Alter Bridge) and George Spatta (Skrape). In addition, all CD artwork and design was done by Rodney Purvis using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop on a PowerPC as well.
